Sexual Violence and Democratic Participation

Young women are entering civic institutions at high rates; however, this does not translate into the number of women candidates, elected officials, or in senior leadership within political institutions. With more than 80% of young women with a median age of 25 leaving politics due to experiencing sexual violence, we must make a collective commitment to challenging gender-based violence and sexism in Canadian politics.

Changing the Game

We have worked with 100 candidates, politicians, volunteers, and political staffer to help create safer campaigns and civic institutions that foster young women’s democratic participation

We are regularly invited to speak on the impact of gender-based violence on democratic participation among women & gender-diverse youth.
